Rage Against Suburban Zombie-ism Thursday, June 23, 2011 For reasons that I will not disclose, as of lately, I have been to my fair share of grade school assemblies...including the dreaded "talent" show. And with the flop of the last assemblies, e.g. kindergarteners inaudibly reciting the bible, long ass video...with no audio, and other a/v issues, I'm stunned that these parents continue to show up! (I suppose the reason for me staying was a mix of curiosity/guilt. However, neither reasons will recoup an hour of my wasted time!) Thanks to shows such as American Idol, The Voice, America's Got Talent, now every damn kid thinks that they're the next Justin Beiber, Selena Gomez, Hanna Montana, or whatever crap they're listening to nowadays. And thanks to shows like Glee, the poor, delusional kids take stage as though it was equipped like a world class stadium. I literally witnessed the 3 female hosts being jerked back 'cause their mic chord was too short. Ghetto. My eardrums also popped from the feedback and at times, I couldn't hear anything 'cause there was a loose wire/the kids were mumbling/other technical difficulties. My point is that my parents never showed up for any of my school events and I think I turned out pretty well. At least I know that I'm not meant to be a singer.
