Rage Against Suburban Zombie-ism Tuesday, October 27, 2009 Does "Natural" = "Au Naturel"? For the most part, as consumers, we're pretty ignorant with what we put on our bodies in terms of cosmetics, potions 'n lotions. I certainly don't know what goes in a tube of lipstick before I buy it! We can all read food labels, most of it anyway. However, unless you're a chemist, you won't be able to decipher the ingredients for things such as body care products. I can't even pronounce the shit that goes into the average bar of soap! Anyhow, I am considering going with a natural/organic deodorant. Although my pits don't smell like prosciutto, I don't wanna smell like a damn hippie either, eg. patchouli. :( Furthermore, I neither want to scare you hypocanceracs nor do I have a specific source to provide, but while I was sifting through some reviews, I read that there's a link between aluminum (an ingredient found in most deodorants) + breast cancer!!! If indeed true then a) why are companies still making products with these carcinogen$ and b) that's some pretty scary stuff. I hope there can be a happy medium. P.S. For the first time ever, I set foot in Lush. Gawd, that place reeks to high heaven! I used to work at a record store, 2 units down from that place, and I swear I could still smell! I don't understand the culture of paying good money for stinky soaps that just go down the drain... Labels: natural organic deodorant posted by Stephania at 9:43 pm |
