Rage Against Suburban Zombie-ism Friday, August 28, 2009 It wasn't 'til Freaks And Geeks that I knew Chicago wasn't just a ballad band, responsible for songs such as "You're The Inspiration", "If You Leave Me Now", & "What Kind Of Man Would I Be?". You know, stuff that your mom swoons over each time it comes over the radio. When you ask, "Who sings this?", if she's an immigrant, she'd say, "I dunno" and continue with her best Peter Cetera imitation. (I actually remember Chicago as a group that I'd karaoke to at C's pad during high school. Her poor parents would be kept up as we wailed on her mics well into the night...) I was reminded of the band's 'other side' when this track played over my work's satellite radio. As soon as I heard the riff, I ran into the backroom in order to take note of the title and it was none other than "25 or 6 to 4". With a title like that, it's only natural to wonder what this song's about. Apparently, it's about writer's block while experiencing a bout of insomnia. Even though this sounds terrible, I really miss being able to be an insomniac...with little-to-no consequences. Right now, I'm pushing it a bit. Oh well, at least it's FRIDAY!!! 9 more weeks to go.
