Rage Against Suburban Zombie-ism Tuesday, August 11, 2009  Sad HalfiesHalf-breed/bi-racial/mixed people who just look White make me sad. I dunno why. Maybe it's because they neither look like their mother nor their father, so I feel as though there's a sense of "loss". When I look at my nephew (Chinese/Frenchie), a sense of confusion washes over me: What. are. you? Rather than having certain identifiable features from his mom &/or dad, it's more like a potpourri of genes. Examples: If Alexa Chung was just Chinese, maybe she wouldn't have such limby limbs? And if Karen O stayed in South Korea, maybe she wouldn't be a singer? (There'd definitely be no Yeah Yeah Yeahs.) So is this what "survival of the fittest"/"natural selection" in Grade 10 Science all about? In any event, halfies still freak me out!
