Rage Against Suburban Zombie-ism Thursday, April 23, 2009  Hervé UpdateIt's one thing to see pictures of this dress and a very different experience to actually have it in front of you, be able to touch it, feel the weight of the fabric, & put it on. By the way, the fit is AMAZING! However, as predicted, there are issues for the everyday woman... 1. Due to the tightness, you cannot wear a bra OR have chicken cutlets on. Both items will show through. A friend suggested medical tape to conceal potential nip-ons. I said that it's soo tight the outline will show! <-- Yet to be confirmed. 2. Spanx or other body slimmers are absolutely necessary! Although I'm not sure if that would show. I can't find my Spanx, so I was unable to try them on, under my dress. Spanx located, were mixed-up in mom's sock drawer. Yeah, right! 3. As for ideal body type for this dress, I certainly wouldn't wear this to a Hollywood function! Just imagine being photographed, side-by-side, these size 0s?? After doing some research, I purchased a medium. However, the top band is slightly loose on me (need bigger boobs), whereas the bottom fits (snug).  Other things to think about: - regular underwear is a no-no. Major VPL! - have someone nearby who can zip you up. There are 4 eye+hook enclosures on the top and you cannot do this up on your own...at least I can't. - if you want your dress shortened (like above, worn by Rachel Bilson), you'll hafta get it done professionally as each strip of the 'bandages' have to be removed. - contrary to what I said in a previous Hervé post, even though the dress will be the focus, you must think about your hair+shoes. I have the same dress pictured and I find the neckline will be hidden if I wear my hair down. Also this dress will not fly with cheap, afterthought shoes. Something else I hafta buy now! - you actually hafta be extremely brave - I'll hafta do some acting! - in order to wear such a number out in public. It's waaay easier to wear this Elizabeth & James mini-dress (see left), than it is to wear a Hervé! Wish me luck!
