Rage Against Suburban Zombie-ism Thursday, September 18, 2008  Sanuk First of all, I'd like to apologise to any of my remaining fashion disciples who've stuck by me despite my brief hiatus. If you're still with me, God bless your patience! Brace yourself 'cause my post may shock + even make you question my fashion sense... Where do you buy Sanuk shoes/sandals/whatumacallit in the GTA area? Lemme explain: I first saw these shoes, many months ago, at my local Roots. (Dunno wtf I was doin' 'cause quite frankly, I don't shop there! It's reserved for tourists and uppity folks who want to look schlumpy.) I tried them on, thought they were comfortable, & probably decided against them 'cause I wasn't in the market for yet another pair of casual canvas shoes *. For the most part, I am able to look beyond aesthetics for the sake of comfort, re: Dr. Scholl's Exercise Sandals (extremely painful, caused blisters that bled), Uggs (when they first came out), & a pair of knock-off Crocs that I bought years ago that I wore 'round the house). I don't think that I'd ever dabble in the Birks. Too Cakery. Remembering where I first saw the Sanuks, I called the nearest Roots. The Salesgirl who picked up the phone said, "Uh, no...we don't sell them anymore. I think closer to like the West Coast, near Calgary they still sell them." My response?: "Gee, that's helpful!" Anyway, I'm gonna give up shopping for them, retail. The stores that would carry them are my worst nightmare to be in. Basically, they're Canadian versions of Hot Topic/Ron Jon! *shudder* As Canadians, we're very slow, too unsure to catch onto fashion trends, so these will probably blow up Spring/Summer 2009! * I have 3 pairs of Chucks and I recently found that they're not very comfortable - at least the low-cuts. If I'm on my feet for an extended period of time, they start to feel very constrictive. However, this never happened to me when I were them in my adolescence!
