Rage Against Suburban Zombie-ism Tuesday, September 30, 2008  Let's NOT Get A Physical!When it comes to my health, I'd rather not know. After all, I'm a non-smoker, not obese or in the porn industry, so how bad could it be, right? This "ignorance is bliss" mentality falls in line with never having a physical examination...'til today! The moment leading up to the actual appointment was quite stressful. I just kept on thinking that my body was host to a rare disease that had not even been discovered yet. (Hey, if this was the case, at least I didn't hafta struggle with carving a name out for myself! Although I do not want to have one of those diseases where I have tumors all over my face or something. That's where I draw the line! ;) As I lay on the examining table with this huge paper towel on top of me - definition of 'dignity' right there - I was close to asking my doctor, "Do you like doing these exams?" However, I resisted that awkwarditis. (Men, if you don't know, our version of "turn and cough" is having a stainless steal scoop shoved in our pussies, followed by a finger or two...not in a repetitive fashion. This is all done in a sterile doctor's office. Doctor's usually a middle-aged, given-up-on-physical-activity shaped woman, who sports orthopedic shoes, and speaks in a monotone voice. Just wanted to make things crystal here.) Anyway, I'm not sure if it was my mental preparation/stress or whatever, but it wasn't half-bad! (I'm not gonna sign up anytime soon, but it was a relief to get it out of the way.) ***TMI coming up, but I was amazed that a trained professional is able to feel if your ovaries/uterus are normal!!!*** Unlike my doctor said, I'm thinking that the physical examination wasn't the worse of it. It'll be those darn test results. How come I feel as though I'm back in school...and I'm 'bout to get back a test that I didn't study for??
